Paid Subscriber Posts will either be personal blogs about whatever I feel like writing OR posts showing you behind the scenes updates and asking for YOU to give input into what I’ll be playing/doing next.
This is the latter.
Shadow of the Waxwing Slain’s current case will likely end in two to three more chapters, so I’m already working on what comes next, which will be a nice break from the intense, ongoing, long campaign currently going on.
For solo-gaming, I’ve begun playing Foundations to build out a world. It’s a fun game using a deck of playing cards and drawing out map. I’m using roll20 for it.
Currently, in my world, I’ve got some mountain ranges, a giant volcano, a stormy tornado area in the north east, a rainforest area, giant animals and ice caps. I’ve got some humans, a subculture that lives close to the frozen north as well as in more temperate areas. There’s also people who live with the giant animals, and nomads that have spread across the land. There’s also people that magic has transformed who have formed a community that lives deep in the mountains.
Here’s what it looks like currently:
It’s a very fun game with a system that works well. This is the second time I’ve played it. I still have most of the deck to work through as well, so expect many more changes to this map.
My question to you, my paid subscribers, is what game to play next, that will begin filling out this world once I finish Foundations.
Games: (Note: This list was longer but apparently Polls can only have 5 options, so I’m keeping to games that have a wider scope.)
Alone on a Map: A hack of Alone Among The Stars, "You are a renowned cartographer that has been tasked with creating a comprehensive map of the entire world. To do this you have divided the world into 36 quadrants and will label the most important Landmarks.”
The Quiet Year: Build a community after a collapse.
The Deep Forest: The Deep Forest is a map game of post-colonial weird fantasy. It’s a re-imagining of The Quiet Year, one that centres upon monstrosity and decolonization.
I am the Forest: A solo roleplaying and mapmaking game about your Forest's advancement.
Microscope: “a fractal role-playing game of epic histories” -Although not normally solo, I have found solo rules.
Before I get to the poll, just so you know, I’m writing a year end post with a bunch of stuff, an overall review of the substack over the year, my thoughts on stuff I’ve watched and read, and what will be coming along in the new year, 2024.
As always, thanks for reading.
Microscope would be fun, establishing a history of the world and its kingdoms/empires but I'm hoping to get some more votes before deciding! Poll will remain up until 2024.
