You are exposed as a monster and flee to a far off land. Lose any stationary resources. You do not know the language of this new place-how do you overcome this obstacle? What new name do you take?
305 AD, Gupta Empire
The Christians exposed me and I fled from Rome, through Persia, to a city called Pataliputra, in a new land, the Gupta Empire. The people were different here. They spoke a different language and had many customs that were strange to me. It was a dynastic empire begun by a ruler called Sri Gupta, and at this time ruled over by his son and heir, Ghatotkacha. I pretended to be a wealthy merchant interested in establishing a new trading network and found a suitable translator to assist me. I took the name Amrit.
Roll: 1d10 - 1d6 = 8 - 1 = +7 → Prompt #36
The deceptions you practice fool even yourself. Combine any three Traits into an Experience you believe is true.
Using my ancient Egyptian ritual scrolls, I piqued the interest of influential people. I was able to manipulate them easily and found myself a wealthy and influential person once again.
I combine Diplomacy, Human are Tools, and Ritual Scrolls to create this Experience. Note: This experience did NOT happen.
Roll: 5 - 3 = +2 → Prompt #38
I continued to shapeshift and hunt at night but the more I did so, the hungrier I felt. My senses became heightened and my body stronger, but I lost more and more of my humanity. I became more animal than man, sleeping during the day and feasting at night with reckless abandon, leaving scenes of carnage found at sunrise. Citizens were scared and rumors spread that a Pishacha or a Vetala was lurking in the city.
I gain the skill Feral and lose a Memory.
Roll: 5 - 2 = +3 → Prompt #41
I lost interest in human concerns, distant, fading, focused only on feeding and sleeping. Days, weeks, months passed without notice. I forgot that I was once named Amon.
I erase my oldest name, Amon, and lose a Memory slot. I now only have 4 Memory slots.
Roll: 1 - 5 = -4 → Prompt #37
Things fall to dust. Lose a Resource for which you have no corresponding Memory. Do not create an Experience for this Prompt. It simply happens as you stare into silence.
I lose the resource Ritual Scrolls. I do not create an experience for this prompt
Roll: 2 - 4 = -2 → Prompt #35
You encounter the descendant of an old foe and help them in some way. Check off a skill and create a Mortal character.
Post-Chapter Notes
A short but brutal chapter, as Amrit slowly loses more and more of himself. The dice moved quickly, rushing past tons of prompts, but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I was planning on continuing the chapter but dropped into a great opportunity to ask for reader feedback again! Amrit is going to meet a descendant of one of his enemies. Let’s look back at our options from Amrit’s history.
Chione, my ancient egyptian lover I turned into a vampire.
Sekhmet, an ancient egyptian vampire who enslaved me for a hundred years until I escaped.
Hanan, a village woman from the Qanan Depression I kept basically as a slave and made her do terrible deeds. I brought her to Italy where she attempted to kill me but I got away.
Drusa, a Strix (Italian immortal creature), who I fought with in Italy, she turned Hanan against me and nearly killed me.
Seth, The Christian vampire-hunter who nearly got me in Rome. I could fast-forward a few decades and have a descendant of his track me down. This is also the only enemy Amrit would remember, which is interesting.
Drop your favorite option in the comments! I may take another break next week to allow more time for comments and instead drop a post all about my fascination with ancient history. Thanks for reading!

Next Chapter → Chapter 6: Haunted by a forgotten past
Hard to choose! My first, spontaneous reaction would have been to go with Chione and have one of her "children" arrive, but it's also very tempting to use Seth.
